The Commission has promised to simplify the administrative burden of environmental and climate legislation, and a legislative proposal is expected in October. In the spring, MTK had already prepared a list of proposals for simplifying agriculture and forestry legislation. To improve the sector’s competitiveness, we call on the Commission to take action on environmental, climate and animal welfare legislation, both those under preparation and those already being implemented. 

The EU's multiannual financial framework and CAP proposals published in July will kick off two years of political wrangling. MTK's goal is to secure adequate funding for the EU agricultural policy. The future CAP must recognise the special characteristics and pioneering role of Finnish agriculture.  

EU forestry policies enable the promotion of a bioeconomy-based active forest use, without the new, closer-to-nature forestry definitions restricting the use of forests.
