Mr Tero Hemmilä has been elected as the new president of MTK

Today, the MTK council elected Mr Tero Hemmilä as the new president of the Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners (MTK). His term will start on January 1, 2026.

Mr Tero Hemmilä, an agronomist and agricultural and forestry entrepreneur living in Laitila in South-Western Finland, is an experienced professional in the food sector with a long career in management roles both in Finland and abroad, including HKScan Oyj, Yara International ASA and Yara Finland Oy. He has strong roots in farming and forestry and is the seventh owner of the Hemmilä farm. 

Mr Hemmilä, 57, has a spouse and three daughters. In his spare time, he hunts, participates in national defence activities, and trains hunting dogs. 

Mr Hemmilä is the ninth president of the organisation. The outgoing president, Mr Juha Marttila, has served as MTK’s president since 2009.

In addition to Mr Hemmilä, the candidates for MTK president were agronomist and agricultural and forestry entrepreneur Mr Juha Junnila, farmer, Member of Parliament Mr Antti Kangas, agricultural and forestry entrepreneur, MTK board member and WFO board member Ms Kati Partanen, Faban cooperative CEO and agronomist Mr Ilkka Pohjamo, and farmer, MTK council chair and Member of Parliament Mr Eerikki Viljanen.
